George Christiansen, 29, of Stamford, struck Wagner with his van at the corner of Elm Street and North State Street as the Henkel employee and mother of two walked to work, police said.
Sgt. Andrew Gallagher, commander of the Stamford police department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad, said in a press release that a decision to charge Christiansen was made following a three-month investigation into the crash.
According to Gallagher, the accident occurred around 7 a.m. Jan. 2, when Christiansen was turning right from Elm Street southbound onto North State Street westbound in his 2016 Dodge Ram when he struck Wagner, 58, while she was in the crosswalk.
Christiansen surrendered himself around noon on Friday with his attorney at the Stamford police department. He was processed and released after posting a $25,000 court appearance bond, Gallagher said.
The Wagner family, through their attorney, said they had no public comment regarding the arrest.
The investigation was handled by Officers Christopher Friel, Jeffrey Booth, and Thomas Drain.
Since Wagner's death, 80-year-old Mary Bova of Stamford was struck in March in a supermarket parking lot. She died a week later.
